Event Description:
Public service is important and our elected officials can have a great impact on the future of our community and Tangipahoa Parish.

The Greater Hammond Chamber encourages Tangipahoa Parish residents who are interested in running for state, parish, or local office and those looking to get more involved in the process to join us for Ready to Run on Friday, March 2. The workshop will be held from 8-11 a.m. at the Shell Robert Training Conference Center.

"2018 is a big year for local elections in our community.  It is the goal of the Greater Hammond Chamber to serve as a resource to those individuals who are considering running for public office, as well as those individuals who are interested in learning more about public service or the management of political campaigns. With that goal in mind, we encourage you to register for our Ready to Run event," said Chairman Elsbet Smith Hollywood.

Topics will include:
  • Opportunity to serve - tough questions to ask before becoming a candidate
  • Getting started - campaign team and finance
  • How to qualify
  • Party endorsements, political action committees and more
  • Do's and Don't's of campaigning
  • So you got elected...now what?
Helpful advice on all of these topics and more will be provided by Jeremy Alford, LaPolitics Weekly; Chief Deputy Alicia Fussell, Tangipahoa Parish Clerk of Court; Nick Gagliano, Gagliano Group; and Jason Redmond, Perceptive Reality Consulting (see bios below).

Pre-registration is required. Registration is $10. Deadline to register is Wednesday, February 28, at noon. Call the Chamber at 985-345-4457 for more information.
